Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle accident that involved a Cherokee County Sheriff's deputy on July 16 at about 9:30 p.m. on Old Georgia Highway 5, near the East Cherokee Drive intersection, just south of Ball Ground.

"The 47-year-old female driver was complaining of injuries to her collar bone due to the seat belt and the male deputy sheriff was taken with injuries to his head and knees," said Cherokee Fire-ES Director of Public Affairs/Public Information Officer Tim Cavendar.

The woman, who was driving a Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicle, and the sheriff's deputy were taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta and were later released, Cavender said, adding no other injuries in the Wednesday mishap were reported.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident, Cavender said.
