Officials say the 56-year-old male occupant of a mobile home located between Holly Springs and Woodstock escaped an early morning fire Tuesday without injury, but the man's dog died in the blaze.
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the structure fire September 16 at about 3:30 a.m. at 10 Marjoe Lane, said Tim Cavender, director of public information.
"According to Cherokee County firefighter Benjy Pearson, who was one of the first firefighters on the scene, the single wide mobile home was 85 percent involved upon arrival," Cavender said.
"The mobile home was completely destroyed," Cavender said."The American Red Cross was called in to assist the occupant."
According to Cavender, Fire Investigator Ossie Delay said that the fire apparently started from an overturned candle.
