Trio Charged with Fraud

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three men September 19 near the Bells Ferry Wal-Mart after a sales associate noticed one of them had allegedly earlier used a fraudulent credit card in the store.

Deputies were dispatched about 5:40 p.m. on September 19 after the store  loss prevention personnel had provided them a description of the trio and their vehicle, said Sgt. Jay Baker, and

A loss prevention associate told authorities that Henry R. Farr was earlier in the electronics department using multiple credit cards to purchase gift cards, Baker said.

"The sales associate, through in-store training, became suspicious and compared the four digit numbers at the end of the credit card with the four numbers that were printing out on the receipt," Baker said. "The store associate realized the cards were fraudulent and alerted the store loss prevention security personnel."

Deputies observed and stopped the suspect's vehicle at the Bells Ferry Road intersection with Robin Road, Baker said.

"Responding officers and detectives conducted a more extensive investigation," Baker said. "During this investigation a total of 23 fraudulent credit cards and an additional number of fraudulent gift cards were found in possession of the suspects.

Authorities arrested Henry Farr, 61, of Beloit, Wi.,; Lamar Farr, 25, of Union City; and Randolph Wilson, 43, of Atlanta, Baker said.

All suspects are charged at this time with 9 counts of financial transaction card fraud and held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with no bond. More charges are pending.
