Three eastern Woodstock teenagers were arrested Monday night by the Woodstock Police Department for alleging attempting to ignite brush and foliage in the Woodlands subdivision, authorities say.

The male juveniles were taken into custody September 15 after a resident of the Woodlands subdivision  reported smoke coming from the wooded area behind the subdivision's amenities center, police say. Woodlands is located off Ga. 92, between Ragsdale and West Wiley Bridge roads.

Officer Manny Barajas of the Woodstock Police Department located the three as they were attempting to ignite brush and foliage, according to a press statement.

Each are charged with third degree arson, criminal damage and criminal trespass, authorities say.

Det. John Steelman of the department's Investigative Services Division said all are 15 years old.

As required, authorities said, the state Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted which authorized release of two of the youths to their parents and the third was remanded to the Youth Detention Facility in Paulding County as he had a previous arrest.
