Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division recently arrested a 34-year-old man after the authorities found three stolen Mercedes luxury cars, a John Deere ATV and a Polaris ATV among 200 stolen items at his eastern Cherokee County home.

Christopher James Antkowiak, left, was arrested and charged with 5 counts of receiving stolen property, said Sgt. Jay Baker, public information officer for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Antkowiak has been released on a $32,758 bond and will likely face additional charges, Baker said.

The week-long investigation started July 17 after authorities were tipped off that a stolen transformer was located at the Holbrook Campground Road residence, Baker said. Holbrook Campground Road is in eastern Cherokee of Ga. 20, near Forsyth County.

Along with the vehicles, investigators discovered more than 200 power tools and chainsaws, Baker said. They also found two tags from other vehicles, he said.

"There was also evidence that Antkowiak was heavily involved in copper theft," Baker said.

"Detectives are working to identify the owners of the property that was recovered," Baker said.
