Firefighters rescued a 42-year-old man injured in an accident Friday afternoon on Interstate 575 near Ball Ground.
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the single-vehicle accident August 1 on I-575 at Howell Bridge Road at about 4:30 p.m., said Tim Cavender, Cherokee County Fire-ES public information officer.
“Apparently, a white Ford pickup truck traveling northbound on I-575, left the highway, flipped over and landed on its side,” he said.

Cavender said the rescue operation involved firefighters stabilizing the vehicle before cutting the roof of the pickup cab off, shown left. Next, he said, emergency personnel lowered the injured man onto a wrecker’s flat bed brought to the scene, shown above.
The man was taken by Emory Life Flight helicopter to North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell and was in stable condition, Cavender said.
“According to Medcon Operator Dean Hege, the male driver had a large laceration to his head and possible broken ribs,” Cavender said.
