The number of students enrolled on Day 3 of Cherokee County School District's new 2008-2009 academic year increased by 192 over the previous day to reach 36,818 total enrollment, said Mike McGowan, director of public information, communications and partnerships.
Since the opening day count of 36,085 students for August 4, the enrollment count has increased by 733 students, McGowan said. The Day 2 increase was 541 students.
Wednesday's Day 3 enrollment total is a 2.8 percent increase over last year's Day 3 count of 35,805 students, McGowan said.
Cherokee County schools opened Monday for the start of the 2008-2009 academic year. Before Day 1, officials said they expected the total enrollment to reach 37,413 students, an increase of 3.13 percent over the last academic year’s 36,276.
