Canton Police Department Arrest 38 Subjects on Loitering and Prowling

The City of Canton Police Department responded to Boling Park on January 27, 2009 at approximately 15:40 hours in reference to a fight in progress. The 38 individuals were placed into custody; 31 were juveniles and 7 were adults. All were charged with loitering and prowling. The Canton Police Department, Cherokee Sheriffs Office, Gang Intelligence Unit assigned to CMANS, Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Cherokee County District Attorneys Office worked diligently together to process these subjects. The City of Canton Police Department feels like this incident is connected with another incident that occurred last Friday evening at the North Canton Baptist church, and they are looking into possible gang initiation activity related to both of these incidents. The individuals involved were transported to Cherokee County ADC, Paulding County Youth Detention Center, and some were released to their parents.
