Cherokee County recently released the following public notice:
Cherokee County is currently developing the FY 2009-2013 Consolidated Plan and FY 2009 Action Plan for Cherokee County, which includes Cherokee County, the Cities of Ball Ground, Canton, Holly Springs, Nelson, Waleska, and Woodstock
Submission of the County’s Five Year Consolidated and Annual Action Plans is to cover its strategies, goals and objectives under the CDBG Program only as a CDBG Urban County.
The Action Plan contains specific projects approved by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners that will receive funding through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant [CDBG].
Cherokee County must submit the 2008-2013 Consolidated Plans and 2008 Annual Action Plan to HUD by October 24, 2008.
Cherokee County is conducting Needs Assessment Public Hearings to obtain citizen input on what should be included in the County’s FY 2008-2013 Consolidated Plan. A summary of public comments received will be provided to the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners prior to their approval of the FY 2009-2013 Consolidated Plan and the FY 2009 Annual Action Plan respectively.
The Needs Assessment Public Hearings are scheduled as listed below:
October 13, 2008: Woodstock Community Center, 108 Arnold Mill Road
Woodstock, 6 p.m.
October 14, 2008: Jury Assembly Room, Justice Center, 90 North St.
Canton, 6 p.m.
October 15, 2008 Ball Ground City Hall, Council Chambers, 215 Valley St., Ball Ground, 6 p.m.

A Spanish interpreter will be available to discuss the proposed projects upon request from the Cherokee County Community Services Agency Office, (678) 493-6015.
