Friday, October 03, 2008

Safe Kids Cherokee County will be hosting the annual "Moonlight Madness" event at the Kroger stores in South Canton and Towne Lake on Tuesday night, October 28. Both events will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"This event gives area children an opportunity to have fun, and at the same time, learn important safety tips," said Chad Arp, coordinator for Safe Kids Cherokee County

Children in the area are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume at Moonlight Madness. Both Kroger stores will have costume contests, many games and treats for the children to enjoy.

Area firefighters will be carving pumpkins and food will also be available, too.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services will be on hand to talk about fire safety and to hand out replacement batteries for smoke detectors.

Each child will receive a free silver reflective plastic trick-or-treat bag with die-cut handles that reflect car headlights and can help make children more visible at night. The bag also contains important Halloween safety tips.
