Rivers Alive Cleanup in Hickory Flat is October 11

The 10th Annual Rivers Alive Cleanup at Hickory Flat School is Saturday, October 11.

The cleanup, sponsored by the Little River Valley Association, is from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Hickory Flat Rivers Alive Cleanup will include the grounds of Hickory Flat Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle and Sequoyah High schools, and Hickory Flat Public Library and roadways to collect trash before it ends up in area streams.

Free refreshments will be provided and also free T-shirts for the first 50 participants. Education displays will also be featured.

The Hickory Flat Cleanup is part of the Rivers Alive annual waterways cleanup program of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Watershed Protection Division and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Rivers Alive is also supported by local sponsors, statewide organizations and corporate sponsors.
