Benefit for Cherokee firefighter slated for September 27

Friends of Cherokee County firefighter Michael Poulson are holding a benefit event to help the family with medical expenses on September 27, the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services announced.

The event at Hickory Flat Fellowship Church is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

Poulson is suffering from a rare muscle disease that doctors have been unable to diagnose. The event will feature gospel, bluegrass and country music, as well as an auction, food, horseshoe tournament and carnival games.

The church is located at 5301 Hickory Flat Highway.
