Firefighters Share Lessons for Night Out

Fire Safety Educator Chad Arp of Cherokee County Fire and Emegency Services showed children how to use a fire extinguisher on a real fire Thursday during the Night Out event in Canton.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services participated in the Night Out event held Thursday night in Canton.

The event at the American Legion Fairgrounds was held to raise anti-drug awareness, especially among children, and is designed to give citizens a chance to meet public safety personnel. Night Out events were also held in Ball Ground and Woodstock, with area law enforcment agencies also participating.

Cherokee County Fire-ES gave tours of fire trucks, ambulances and the hazardous materials truck, a demonstration using the “jaws of life” and showed how to use a fire extinguisher. Other public safety demonstrations were also held.

Safe Kids Cherokee County officials demonstrated the proper method to install a child safety seat.

The event also featured music, food and games for the children.
