Shoppers buying certain water- and energy efficient products will get a break on the Georgia sales tax Thursday through Sunday.

Products with the WaterSense and ENERGY STAR labels are exempt from Georgia sales tax October 2-5 to encourage water- and energy-efficiency.

Among the products are WaterSense water-efficient toilets and faucets. WaterSense products are proven to use 20 percent less water than similar products.

Visit www.epa.gov/watersense for the federal Environmental Protection Agency's complete list of WaterSense products.

Visit www.dor.ga.gov/salestax/holiday/index.aspx for information about the tax free holiday.

In addition to saving money on the sales tax, customers of participating water utilities may be eligible for a $100 rebate if they purchase a WaterSense toilet.

Visit www.northgeorgiawater.org for the list of utilities participating in the Metro Water District’s regional toilet rebate program and program details. The participating agencies include the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority (CCWSA).
