Independent bookstores in Canton and Woodstock are organizing "Breaking Dawn" release parties for the evening of August 1 that will culminate with the release of the new book immediately after midnight.
With a first printing of 3.5 million copies, "Breaking Dawn" is the final book of author Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" series. The novel's August release is prompting booksellers to organize release parties featuring readers in costumes as vampires, werewolves and other roles. The novels - widely popularly among young readers - are about a romantic triangle between a teenager in love with her classmate vampire and his best friend, a werewolf.
The parties are slated to start 9 p.m. at FoxTale Book Shoppe in downtown Woodstock and 11:30 p.m. at Yawn's Books & More in downtown Canton. Pre-purchase of the book that is topping bestseller lists is admission for the event in Woodstock. Yawn's Books requests RSVPs before the party.
