The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Leadership Cherokee Class of 2009. The deadline is October 1.
The Leadership Cherokee program seeks existing and emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds and offers them an educational experience to expose them to various aspects of the community.
Leadership Cherokee's Steering Committee desires to select a diverified group in terms of race, sex and occupation. Individuals from business, social services, government, cultural and educational organizations will comprise the class.
Class members must live and/or work in Cherokee County.
Over the nine-month-long program, Leadership Cherokee participants are required to attend an orientation, a retreat, seven class sessions and a Community Services Day.
Commitment to 100 percent attendance is required of each participant.
Tuition for each participant is $675 for a Chamber member or $800 for a non-Chamber member. (Non-Chamber member tuition includes a one-year individual Chamber membership.)
Following the August 1-October 1 nomination period, nominees will be asked to complete a detailed application and applicants will be interviewed by the Leadership Cherokee Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will then make recommendations for or against acceptance into the program.
Nomination forms are available at the Chamber office, 3605 Marietta Highway in Canton, and at www.CherokeeChamber.com/leadership.htm.
