PROFESSIONAL:

Eugene CizekLouisiana Licensed Architect since 1964 with certification in architecture and city planning in the United States and Holland since 1967.  Private practice has focused on  historic   preservation, environmental conservation, growth management, urban design, environmental social psychology, community renewal, preservation planning and guidelines for new construction and development in historic settings.  These projects have included such important landmarks as Destrehan, Laura, Lombard, Belle Alliance, Alley  and Woodland Plantations and many local and regional historic urban structures such as Sun Oak in Historic Faubourg Marigny, 922-28 Kerlerec, Musee Rosette Rochon, Marchand-Didier House,  709 Tchoupitoulas, Caballero-Boucvalt House, Bowie-Gremillion-Hoyt Estate and Villa Gaudet, a contemporary house in Historic Natchez, Mississippi

HONORS AND AWARDS:

In 1997 named the Richard Koch Chair in Architecture.  Has received various local, state, national and international awards in preservation education, restoration and environmental conservation.  Professional work has been published in many national journals.  Recent writings have included Introductions to Vestiges of Grandeur, Capturing Oak Alley and Chapters in Louisiana Buildings:  1720-1940.  Television work has included This Old House: New Orleans and recently Faded Ladies for WYES Television in New Orleans.  A new book on Creole architecture is currently in production.
