I just bought Angele Parlange's book, Creole Thrift.  I was enchanted and charmed by it.  I particularly liked her personal accounts of growing up in Louisiana on her family's plantation on False River.  The contrast of old family photos of the place disbursed with what the place is like today is fascinating.  Angele is a renowned designer noted for her signature collections of fabrics, clothing, and furniture.  She is our local Marhta
